BRIDPORT SCOTTISH DANCERS – RISK ASSESSMENT

  1. Emergencies.

In the case of suspected heart attack or other serious medical situation, or external disturbances, the appropriate emergency service should be alerted giving the hall address, South Street, Bridport post code DT6 3NW  and What3Words: educated:scrubber:sprinkle. The nearest accessible defibrillator is located at the Tourist Information Centre in Bucky Doo Square.

  • Infectious diseases and food poisoning.

Members are requested not to attend sessions or events if feeling unwell with a cough, cold or temperature. The location of hand sanitizer points should be indicated, and the washing of hands especially before handling food is essential.

  • Injury or strain during dancing.

A gentle warm-up dance followed by stretches should start each weekly session, and a short cool-down period should be available at the end of each session.

  • Falling or slipping during dancing.

In the event of slippery areas on the dance floor, slip stop should be used sparingly, or a tray with a damp cloth should be available.

  • Overheating during dancing.

In the event of warm or hot weather, windows and doors should be opened, water made available and breaks allowed between dances.

  • Minor injuries.

Committee members should be aware of the First Aid box in the hall, and inform the hall management of any shortfalls in the kit.

  • Electric shock.

Equipment should be visually checked before use, and any faults remedied quickly.

  • Fire.

Committee members should acquaint themselves with the fire regulations in the hall, and call the fire brigade if necessary giving the hall address, South Street, post code, DT6 3NW and the What3Words: educated:scrubber:sprinkle.
